Healthy relationships are clearly better in real-life but fucked-up ones are way more dramatically interesting in fiction. In much the same way–indeed, in exactly the same way–that feudal monarchy is a hell of a lot of fun in fantasy and historical fiction novels, but complete shit to actually live under.
Feudal monarchy is so hilarious because it’s just like: “What if we based our entire sociopolitical structure on fucked-up family dynamics?”
so funny when americans make photosets with pictures of normal eastern european buildings and describe them as “melancholy” or “desolate.” like my brother that is an apartment complex. my friend Милош lives there.
oh my god???
Imagine scrolling through tumblr and seeing your own window. Slammed my laptop down and went to bed.
my city regularly appears on evil building blogs etc but in fairness it IS evil
that said my former workplace was a stand in for one of the ministry buildings in an adaptation of 1984 and that was. weird. it’s like my guy there’s a cafe. i eat packed lunch on the stairs and talk about mobile games with my coworkers instead of doing one single useful thing.
Born in 1943, Illuitok was an Inuit master sculptor from Kugaaruk. She created detailed, delicate ivory/bone carvings that mostly represented hunting or nature scenes. Illuitok often worked with found materials that she then shaped into works of art. She passed away in 2012.
The above work shows birds nesting and is made of whale bone and ivory. Notice the little detail on the bottom right of a polar bear hunting some seals.
